Hawaii destination weddings and elopements are often saturated with the vibrant colors of tropical florals and decoration. While many dream of a ceremony bursting with color, never discount a simple elopement set against the natural beauty of the islands.

Destination wedding photographer Meigan Canfield along with Hawaii-based wedding planner Maile Maui Weddings created this intimate picnic scene along the mystical coastline of Maui. They wanted to showcase the perfect elopement for a fun, adventurous couple that dreams of an off-the-beaten-path hideaway. Wandering through masculine lava rock fields above deep blue splashing waves creates a special way to say "I do" along the Pacific, sans toes in the sand.

Maui floral designer Stems and Blooms stayed true to a vision of soft colors and subtle reverence to the island's tropical nature through a bouquet of blush orchids and green protea.

Photographer Meigan noted, "We loved the idea of keeping everything very neutral, except for some pops of color from the sea glass, and letting the spectacular backdrop speak for itself."

"The coconuts, shells, coral, and driftwood all came from the land. The holes in the driftwood were made by carpenter bees and we thought they would be awesome natural candleholders."

"One of the advantages of an elopement is that the couple doesn't have to think about getting back to their guests and they can really soak in each other's company. What better way to end cap off the celebration than a lovely picnic setting?"
