Uncommon Scents: Perfume

A Fragrance for Every Girl in Your Bridal Party

Giving from the heart should always be the top priority (rather than let cash be our guide) but it seems more important than ever in these economic times. When it comes to gifts for women, our meaningful, go-to items are books and perfume. While they are personal, these items are not too intimate— after all, most ladies will appreciate a good page-turner and are usually in need of a signature fragrance to add to their beauty routine in the new year. For the latter, we have selected the season's outstanding scents for each singular style on your shopping list.

Harajuku Lovers Fragrance Collection for the Hipster: Leave it to style maven Gwen Stefani to create a line of fragrances inspired by the eclectic street scene in Tokyo, the Harajuku shopping district. Each irresistable doll has a name (love, music, lil angel to name a few) and a distinct floral scent to capture her one-of-a-kind personality.

Jo Malone for the Chic Bohemian: Jo Malone creates some of the most beautiful scents in the world and has mastered the art of fragrance combining. Each of her original fragrances was designed to be worn alone or layered over one another. Here, we've featured the woody tones of Wild Fig & Cassis and 154 Cologne, a sweet blend of citrus, lavender, herbaceous basil and vetiver.

Infusion d'Iris by Prada for the Smart Dresser: This elusive and light fragrance is the most highly-anticipated of the season. Under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada, Infusion d'Iris was blended by perfumer Daniela Andrier resulting in a clean, refreshing scent that will compliment either a man or a woman.

Ed Hardy by Christian Audiger perfume for the Rocker: The famous tattoo artist has lent his edgy fashion sense to fragrance bottles for both men and women. He worked with perfumers Caroline Sabas and Olivier Gillotin to create a fruity floral scent with notes of apple, mango, strawberry and vanilla.

Vera Wang Bouquet for the Romantic: The newest fragrance from Wang blends floral notes with citrus, lavender, cedar and iris, to name a few. The designer describes her inspiration behind the fresh scent: "For me, flowers and fragrance are the perfect expression of love and commitment, and a bouquet symbolizes that union. In the hands of a radiant woman, a bouquet can be magical."
