The trash-the-dress tradition is alive and well in Hawaii, perhaps because we have an inexhaustible stock of sand and saltwater. Naturally, there are varying degrees of success surrounding trash-the-dress shoots. This bohemian bridal session by Love and Water Photo is our unparalleled favorite. From the prism-like light leaks to the clear indigo water to the voluminous pastel flower crown, we're pretty sure this shoot is a mermaid-daydream realized.
The photographers sent us a little background the shoot: "For Maui photographers, finding a beautiful beach location to shoot is far from a daunting task. We spent the afternoons before our Mermaid trash the dress session with Laura looking for places that would look great at sunset and wouldn't pick up too much of the swell that was forecast to approach in the coming days. With a floral crown provided by Maui florist Bella Bloom and hair and makeup by Ace Alipio and Marci Murciealgo of Salon 253 in Wailuku, we spent the afternoon in and out of the water. It was an awesome shoot and we came away with some incredibly unique images!"
