I am always curious about other people’s work spaces, particularly those in the creative world, so today I thought I would share a little behind-the-scenes look at our magazine offices. One of the most often asked questions when people pop into our office is, “Do you only hire gorgeous women?” And of course I reply, “Why not?!” Okay, I’m kidding, but not about the question! As I introduce Nikki and Barbara, the comment will seem pretty obvious, but in truth, I like to surround myself with creative, talented and kindhearted individuals, and these two ladies are no exception. While they may be beautiful on the outside, they are just as amazing on the inside. (Sorry guys, they are both taken.;)
(Photos by Evonne & Darren Photography—thanks to both of you for capturing the girls! And to Jessica Waite and Dan Sanchez for the fabulous makeup and hair styling!)

On the left below is Barbara Lewis, our brilliant account executive, whom we affectionately dubbed “Bee” for short. She handles advertising sales for both print and online, and if you want to know anything about the wedding industry, she is your go-to girl. Bee was once a wedding planner for the Four Seasons Resort at Wailea, so she knows a thing or two about weddings, and she’s in the midst of planning her own nuptials at the moment. The reason she seems born to be a perfect magazine ad exec is: a) she genuinely loves to help people, b) she has a background in marketing, and c) she happens to be a talented graphic designer.

So here is the buzz on Miss Bee in her own words (she’s pictured on the left):
Best part of your job? I get to hang out with the coolest wedding professionals on the planet. It’s so great to see their businesses grow.
Favorite childhood memory? Camping at the beach with my family
Your latest obsession? Bridal blogs! I can look at them for hours
Something you will likely never change? My romantic nature
Favorite food? Chocolate!
Describe your ideal day: Digging in the garden all day and then dancing tango at night
Things that make your heart happy? My fiancé’s smile and puppies in all shapes and sizes
In an alternate reality, what is dream job? A singer in a rock band, a sign language teacher or a dog trainer (who would’ve known?!)
Three things you can’t live without? Hugs, kisses and my fiancé’s smile
On Bee’s right is Nikki Simat. Also an account exec for Pacific Weddings, she has an artistic flair for wedding design and a love of baking beautiful confections. She recently made these amazingly detailed and immense soccer ball cookies to the delight of the entire team. Nikki will be assisting clients on the island of Oahu as well as several national accounts, and her experience in event planning and marketing makes her an invaluable resource for Pacific Weddings clients.
Best part of your job? The great people I work with, and knowing that my evenings spent surfing the Internet for everything from Paris fashion week to crazy craft ideas are actually relevant to my work
Favorite childhood memory? Hanging with my Mom on Saturdays… Grabbing doughnuts in the park, playing grown-up at her law office while she worked, and then off to the grocery store, where I would sit in the cart and pretend to scan all the items she deposited.
Your latest obsession? Since my recent San Francisco trip, I am obsessed with Duckhorn Cab, sourdough bread bears, and heirloom tomatoes!
Something you will likely never change? My long dark hair
Favorite food? Carbs (all kinds) and chocolate!
Describe your ideal day: Experiencing some faraway country for the first time with Chauncey [her beau] and the kids
Things that make your heart happy? Any YouTube video that has a baby in it, grandparents who are still madly in love, and when the kids fall asleep in my arms and I have to carry them to bed
3 things you can’t live without? Family & friends, iPhone and date nights!
In an alternate reality, what is your dream job? Pretty much what I am doing now, but in a big city—maybe New York or Paris
Well, I can attest to their mutual affection for all things chocolate, and somehow the calories seem to vanish into thin air. But, Bee, a rock singer?! That is fascinating! What would you guess as my alternate career choice? I bet you won’t get it. In the meantime, make friends with Bee and Nikki on Facebook! xo ~robyn
Thank you for the blog love, ladies! It was such an honor to do a portrait shoot for Bee and Nikki, and we had a great time!
Beautiful article – beautiful girls (and talented)
Alternate career choice Robyn – uh, maybe couture bakery owner specializing in cream puffs?!
Alternate career choice for Robyn – I guess fashion designer!!!
