The Edge of Time: A Big Sur Wedding

We featured the Big Sur wedding of Emily Jacobs to Michael Goard in this issue of Pacific Weddings, and I must admit, it is one of my favorite real weddings of all time. Photographer Allyson Magda’s beautiful photos portray the fascinating story of this day. The two neuroscientists met in 2004 while interviewing for graduate school at Berkeley, spent the next four years together at school, and eventually decided they couldn’t live their lives apart.

I appreciated how the homespun details of the day were culled from the bride’s very own collection of vintage curiosities. Her father, the Honorable Gary William Jacobs, presided over the small ceremony. He welcomed family and friends who had traveled from as far away as Rome by saying, “This life together is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
