We love the style and feel of Dija and Robert’s engagement session captured on Maui by photographer Barry Frankel of Island Fresh Photography. Robert proposed to Dija during their visit to Maui and the couple just wed in Bora Bora. The day of their engagement session began with wind and rain in Kapalua but the clouds cleared offering up ideal photo shoot light. Dija wore a white chiffon shift dress from her favorite boutique in London paired with Christian Louboutin heels. Thank you for sharing with us, Barry!
Well this is a diversion for us since we love a finely-frosted wedding cake here at Pacific Weddings. But we’ve been noticing unfrosted “naked” cakes all over Pinterest and are slowly coming around to the idea. Be careful in your search for “naked cake” as you may get more than sweet confections! It appears that New York City’s Momofuku Milk Bar has led the way in naked cake artistry. And of course San Francisco’s Miette Bakery’s darling unfrosted “tomboy cake” have party-goers raving. What do you think, cake lovers? Would you go for a naked cake on your wedding day?
Native Fijian’s Kathryn Jitoko and Seamus Chang’s wedding in Lami Bay, Fiji was full of lighthearted humor and love. “The ceremony was the highlight of the day for us,” says the bride. “Walking into the church and seeing our friends and family smiling back at us, some with tears of joy in their eyes…and finally being able to call each other husband and wife.” The wedding ceremony was in the groom’s family church in Laucala Bay, the same church where Seamus’s parent’s wed. The festivities continued with a lively reception at the Novotel Convention Centre in Lami Bay, featuring incredible local fare, live music, dancing and photo booth fun. The wedding décor featured bright pops of color in citrus tones. Despite an unexpected downpour, photographers Gitte Meeussen and Ropate Kama of Kama Catch Me Photography were able to capture the beauty of the celebration!

This gorgeous wedding by Frank Amodo Photography at the JW Marriott Ihiliani Resort in Ko Olina was lifted from the pages of our Winter/Spring 2013 issue. The couple is absolutely stunning! Diane Nguyen and Byron Chan knew that a destination wedding on the island of Oahu would be ideal for their wedding day. The bride’s aesthetic was “romantic, simple and classic…every design or color choice made was done to enhance the romantic feel of the day.” With the help of Byron’s sister as wedding planner, Pacific Aisles Inc. as their day-of coordinators, Ihilani coordinator Joe Ibarra, the impeccable floral creations of Yvonne Chapman of Yvonne Design and Alex Garcia from Mood Events, the soft palette came to life in breathtaking detail. Tall tapered glass vases, sheer fabric, glowing candlelight, elegant gold Chiavari chairs, dramatic ivory hydrangeas, peonies and orchids lent themselves to an overall dreamy wedding. The bride wore a tulle and lace Vera Wang gown.
