

Event lighting is so often an after-thought, especially if your wedding is outdoors. Fun and clever lighting options aren’t always easy to come by either. We love the industrial and modern look of authentic Edison-style light bulbs with their intricate filaments exposed to the naked eye. The design is typical of early 20th century lighting and casts a really nice, clean light, too. Many designers are taking the bare essentials of lighting {wires, sockets, bulbs} to create a minimal, lofty look.

Pottern Barn‘s Edison Chandelier was inspired by the work of 20th-century designers like Adolf Loos who were drawn to the austere beauty of industrial light fixtures and adapted them for home interiors; A row of Edison bulbs with wire coverings via Grassroots Modern; Susan and William Brinson’s loft in New York City features the lighting fixture DIY project that the couple took on. “It has 100 bulbs. It took us a while to put it together!” Susan says. Only 10 bulbs are active, so they light up the non active bulbs. via Design*Sponge; New York city restaurant Public has Edison bulb lighting throughout the space.
