I am a big fan of recasting old items into something new and useful, like these pretty vases which were created from recycled wine bottles. The first pieces for tranSglass were designed in 1997 and were originally produced by Tord Boontje and Emma Woffenden in their London studio. Since 2005 tranSglass is produced in Guatemala City in a workshop where young people learn glass making skills. Check out Design w/Conscience, a program to manufacture products with humanitarian and eco-friendly principles, founded by Artecnica. It’s a beautiful thing. xo ~robyn
