We’ve admired the work of Brooklyn-based graphic designer and custom chalk letterer Dana Tanamachi for quite some time. She is incredibly original and has imprinted her signature on everything from wedding signage to magazine typography, restaurant decor and packaging. We absolutely love the hand-lettered chalkboard sign she created for Caroline and Andrio’s wedding captured by photographer Jenny Jimenez. It made for the perfect photo backdrop for guests! Pictured below is a chalk-art piece created by artist Tommaso Guerra via Design*Sponge; Dana Tanamachi created a mural on a wall in Ace Hotel New York’s room 1021. She was inspired by vintage playbills from the Victorian era and included a lyric from her favorite musical, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”; One of our favorite chalkboard drawings, Cross the Ocean, is available in the Dear Musketeer Etsy Shop; Chris Yoon’s The Lost Art of Hand Lettering project shows the meticulous process on the Behance Network.
