The 2011 catch-phrase handmade wedding cannot be denied with these whimsical embroidered details from stationery suites and table signage to guest favors and classic novel inspiration. Hand-stitched details are definitely a labor of love! Above, illustrator and designer Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. decided to play up Kate and Avi’s love for handmade with a hand sewn invitation design.

Anna says, “I used embroidery thread and sewed it directly into paper to create the design and then added hand painted lettering before scanning the art for printing.” She sewed one piece of paper then scanned the design. “I didn’t embroider each individual invitation— I think that would be amazing but also a little crazy pants,” she says. Agreed!

{Above} The embroidered table number DIY discovered on The Inspired Bride adds a touch of charm to any event; We love Kara and Tim’s threaded wooden sign displayed at their handcrafted and incredibly creative bash, captured by Steep Street. {Below} A personalized hand-crafted wedding gift embroidered by Brooklynite Jessica available in her Etsy shop, Miniature Rhino; Artist Jillian Tamaki wowed design-seekers with her Penguin book cover series embroidered by hand. She says, “These three book covers were embroidered by hand over the course of two months. Three books were a lot to pull off, but I am such a sucker for classic literature and book illustration… how could I say no?” The covers will be sculptural-embossed and are full wraparound images with french flaps. Order on Amazon; For Anne and Brett’s wedding invitation, graphic designer Karin Soukup was inspired by plant and wildflower illustrations. “The design allowed for the bride- a fiber artist and clothing designer- to grace the pages with her stitching handiwork which acts as the edge bindery.”
