A Real Wedding in Palos Verdes : California

It Had to be You

A brilliant blue sky and incredible ocean views set the stage for the wedding of Jennifer and Bill. Three hundred guests, including legendary actress Esther Williams, were seated in white chairs on the expansive lawn, the fragrance of thousands of pink and ivory roses filling the air. Jennifer was simply breathtaking in a one-of-a-kind gown by Simin Haute Couture and stunning diamond drop earrings. Her handsome groom wore a custom designed tuxedo created by Amir of Beverly Hills.

California wedding planner, Wendy Rhodes, was enlisted to plan the elaborate affair in addition to the bachelor and bachelorette parties preceding the day. Wendy comments, “Jennifer had a traveling bachelorette party including all her bridesmaids and friends, with stops all over Beverly Hills and Hollywood.” A private limousine escorted the spirited group to spa treatments and lunch at the Argyle Hotel, shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue for Jennifer’s bridal shoes, and a private fragrance sampling at Lucky Scents with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. They enjoyed dinner at Katana, a trendy sushi restaurant in Hollywood, and afterward they joined the groom and his entourage for late night cocktails.

The gentleman had been just as busy, with a private dinner followed by a performance of magician Simon Winthrop. The ladies finally retired when presented with monogrammed pajamas and fun t-shirts as a remembrance of the day, and the evening ended in a traditional slumber party with movie candy and a wedding-themed DVD.

Jennifer and Bill announced their nuptials in true style, sending each guest an elegant letterpress invitation in a handmade cocoa-brown satin box enclosed with a rhinestone buckle. A lovely frame wrapped in coordinating silk satin was included in the box with their photo. The pink, cream and gold details continued the throughout the illustrious event with ornate arrangements of roses at both the ceremony and the reception. Much to the children’s delight, an enormous glass container at the escort table held personalized pink and cream M&Ms.

The ballroom at the Trump National Golf Club was illuminated with ivory candles and splendid floral topiaries in rose petalfilled vases designed by Eddie Zaratsian of Tic-Tock Couture Florals. A six-tiered cake stood as the centerpiece of the event covered in creamy fondant and embellished with tiny sugar roses. The room was awash in accents of gold and pink, with beaded silk linens, gold charger plates, and triple-pleated silk napkins embellished with buckles to mirror the invitations.

It was an emotional celebration filled with music from beginning to end. The newlyweds danced their first song as man and wife to “It Had to Be You”, and the music continued throughout the evening. The groom’s daughters, Anna, Charlie and Georgie, provided the most heartfelt moment of the night for both Jennifer and Bill, when they sang a song as a montage of favorite photos played, depicting their love for Jennifer and what a wonderful difference she had made in their lives. It was the perfect sentimental ending to a most unforgettable union of love.
